Tues Sept 30th

Join Paula Boo and create a beautiful coiled basket. Learn some basic basketry techniques using sustainably harvested Bangalow Palm and hand-dyed Raffia and watch your piece come to life as we share a weaving circle and an afternoon together.

Coiling techniques are used around the world in many different cultures. Paula’s coil workshops share commonly used coiling stitches using mainly found and harvested natural fibres and hand-dyed and paper raffia. You will go home with a fabulous and unique creation and hopefully a new found passion for weaving!

Twist Weave Workshops 10am-3pm

Thurs Sept 25th
Thurs Oct 2nd

Join Paula Boo and create a beautiful twist weave or twined basket. Learn some basic basketry techniques using sustainably harvested natural fibres and watch your piece come to life as we share a weaving circle and an afternoon together.

Twist weave is a basketry technique used in many forms and with many fibres both soft and hard. This workshop uses a variety of natural fibres collected locally, to create a unique basket dictated by the moods of the materials. Fibres may include (depending on my stock at the time) Bangalow Palm, Coccus Palm, Banana, Lomandra spp. , Monstera sheath, cane and other random materials.

You will go home with a fabulous and unique creation and hopefully a new found passion for weaving!

Straddie Stories: Collage Workshop

1-3pm Wed Sept 24th
1-3pm Fri Sept 26th

Join artist and designer Magda Myszkowski for a hands-on creative workshop that invites you to explore the rich beauty of Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) through the meditative art of collage and paper weaving.

No art experience? No problem. This workshop is all about playful discovery, self-expression, and reconnecting with the landscape in a deeply personal way. You'll work with a curated collection of imagery celebrating Straddie’s unique flora, fauna, and coastal life—including striking photographs by local artist Fiona Pyke.

Come with curiosity and leave with a piece of art that’s uniquely yours—infused with memory, place, and story.
